The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), which was formed in 2019, has tabled its report before the Parliament on December 16, 2021. The report seeks to address and do away with some of the challenges of the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019 and provide recommendations over the same.

After nearly two years of deliberation, the panel issued a 250-page final report on the Bill on November 22. While we enter 2022 with hopes for a New Data Privacy Regulation in India, let us discuss some of the key recommendations put forward by JPC for the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019 which is now known as the Data Protection Bill, 2021.
